Black Swan

My Winter break has just kicked off So This shall be a month of games, anime, and movies. I'm currently marathoning Maccross Frontier but yesterday morning I decided to watch the recently released film "Black Swan", directed by Darren Aronofsky(the guy who did the wrestler). The movie follows Nina(Natalie Portman), a ballet dancer, filling her role as both the White and black Swan of the ballet Swan lake. Well a good chunk of people only found interest in the movie after hearing there would be a lesbian scene, I'm one of those people. Thankfully the movie turned out to be much more than some softcore lesbo porn between Princess Amadala from star wars and Jackie from that 70s show. It was about an innocent young girl whom had to embody seductress "black swan". She plays the role of the white swan perfectly but has trouble in her role as the black swan, because of this she must take herself to a dark place filled with sex, jealousy, and inadequacies.

Its much like the idea found in Darren's other film the wrestler in the way it shows a person being engulfed in work. Giving up themselves for their craft and losing everything in it until it becomes the only thing that matters. It shows a constant haunting of a dark self that lies beneath the self delusions. We don't really get to see the amount of SHIT it actually takes to be a great ballet dancer. I guess usually people see a dancer and not really the amount of mental and physical stress that beats them. Reminds us that its just like any job/career more importantly it really is like a extension of the movie wrestler comparing the struggles of an ugly old man who does wrestling of all things to A beautiful innocent girl who does ballet dancing. FUCKING AWESOME! Throughout the movie u can see how her relationships effect her from the friend ship of Mila Kunis's character Lily or even her "supportive mother". As a psychological thriller the movie has to use various mind fucks/hallucinations that make you confused on the validity of some of the actions, but does so In such a way that while as ambiguous as parts may be There really is something to be made of it.

I dislike a lot of times where at the end of the movie I feel lost. Luckily that wasn't the case here and it really griped me the entire way. The music is awesome some of the CGI stuff is weird... but still much watchable. It won't scare you at all but take you through the fucked up mind of a ballet dancer who wants to be special. I recommend anyone to GO see it! It't not a masterpiece but its really enjoyable... might be my movie of the year <___<
