New years!

Btw im not editing this crap(like I ever do) nor is this in any particular order O well

Well well well... In a couple of hours it will finally be 2011. I have set a lot of resolutions for myself but I’m going to take a minute to talk about my games of 2010(Everyone is doing it!). I think when it comes to sheer quality standpoint this was THEE best year in gaming ever. This year had a crap load of blockbusters, awesome indie releases, and an awesome sprinkle of just pure bliss. Next year looks even better but as I said before let’s talk about the past one last time.
Deadly Premonition – Game of the year? Well when I think of my game of the year Bayonetta and this game usually pop into my mind… To be different I shall pick Deadly Premonition as my Game of the year. It’s a different game… technically it’s not impressive at all. The graphics are terrible, the animations are terrible, the combat is TERRIBLE, but somehow this game is not only my game of the year but one of my favorite games I have ever played. It overcame its technical flaws by being so terribly delicious in others. 1st things first, This game is funny! The music plays at innaproriate times, the dialoug is awkward, and the quirky characters just had to the hilarity. It really was a huge parody of older survival horror so its kind of supposed to be bad and playing on the failures of its forefathers while keeping you entertained with its own quirks. I don’t think I have ever gotten so attached to characters in a video game although the characters were so bizzare its hard to relate they were just so entertaining to listen to that you couldn’t help to love them all. The story is pretty interesting and kept my attention for the duration of the game. If you go into this game with the right attitude you will leave with one of the more special experiences that you will ever find in a game. It’s a game that only a gamer can love.
Super Meat boy – Frustrating as shit! Its funny how whenever I think of the most enjoyable times of this game came from it inflicting so much pain on my thumbs and patience. One of the first games to really make me feel emotionally drained after dying for an hour straight on one level. My thumb hurt so much that I couldn’t play or do much of anything with my thumb for a full day afterwards. Still a fan little game with the tightest controls you’ll ever see in a platformer but I have already talked about meat boy enough.
Halo Reach – GOD DAMN HALO REACH! Halo 1 campaign was awesome 2 was alright 3 was boring as crap…. Reach reached halo 1 status but that’s not why I bought nor the main reason I am in love with reach. Fun FUN FUN multiplayer. Noone does online quite like the guys at bungie adding in the different loadouts and still having the same feeling of the old halos. Its going to be a sad day when my live subscription runs out next month 
Heavy Rain – Ahhh heavy rain some people won’t call it a game, but I think it counts even if it is a calmer experience than most. It has some plot holes here and there(big one), but the story and the failstates kept me going for 8 hours straight. It was like watching and playing through a really good movie.
Mass Effect 2 – Main story wise… almost nothing new happens but! This game stepped up its gameplay and actually made my team AI better. It improved on nearly everything the 1st one did and added a host of new characters that each have an interesting past to learn about. Playing Mass effect never gave me that “OMG” moment but it’s one of the best experiences I’ve had playing a game. Cannot wait for ME3 :3
Limbo – Limbo caught my eye the first time I saw it and when I played the demo I felt compelled to buy it. The game is short so I finished it in a day but the death animations are amusing, the art style is different, there is no music, and the puzzels were challenging but fun. It was similar to braid in its probing heavy gameplay which I know a lot of people complain about but with the lack of game overs you’re right back into the action after dying so it never gets too annoying.
Bayonetta- I can’t quite describe the feeling I got when playing the last hour and a half of this game. It was the most intense finale in ANY game I have ever played. The gameplay is like a flashier version of ninja gaiden/DMC which works to my tastes. Fly me to the moon never got old either. Although the story was a “meh” and the still cut scenes bothered me I had so much fun playing this game.
Red Dead Redemption – great voice work, funny glitches, great graphics, fun gameplay, and overall engaging world. I really enjoyed this game from start to finish and the online play gave it some legs afterwards. The story went through a large samurai jack like loop for a big chunk but still had enough fun to finish it.
Scott Pilgrim vs The World- river city ransom with a cool art style and the best chiptune soundtrack I have ever heard.

*honorable mentions: God of War 3, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Alan Wake*
