Super Meat Boy makes me want to cry

This post is almost a month late, but I'm still here! just been a little busy is all <___<. So I recently bought Super Meat Boy! from Team Meat(Edmund McMillen and Tom Refenes) and I had been playing the crap out of it. Starts out pretty simple but as the player progresses through the game he/she will come across obstacles that will test of the limits of their reflexes and patience. To be perfectly honest I knew things would get ridiculous on the game but no game has ever drained me more with pure frustration. I never threw a controller, kicked my dog, or stabbed the nearest person but I found new ways to curse out my television. Through all the pain I endured I did complete the game(I haven't finished all of the side missions) and I had the biggest feeling of accomplishment when the credits finally rolled.

Now there is no real way around it(unless you're some kind of gaming god)... you will DIE A LOT. luckily for you the game doesn't have a life system on light and dark stages so you start the stage immediately which helps to ease some of your frustrations. there was a point on the last word where I literally sat and died on the same stage for over an hour with no stops. So when I finally complete it up I kinda teared up, laid on the ground, and just had to reflect on it all. My thumbs literally hurt from playing. If you really want to complete everything this game has to offer you are going to need a stick to it attitude. All in all the game is worth the bondage style punishment it gives you.

Sure its one of the more challenging games that came out this year but its done a really amazing job. Controls are quick and responsive so when you die(YES YOU"RE GOING TO DIE) it will be on your shoulders, although the soundtrack is not Scott pilgrim level affair)most of the music is nice classic chip tune and some of the songs will stay with you even after the game is done(listening to the OST right now), the graphics are simple but effective its your usual Edmund art style that you would find in Aether, Gish, and the first meat boy with its cute big eyed characters that seem to give a lovability to any of the words strange creatures. The game play is fun and simple you'll only be using a joystick and two buttons throughout the entirety of the game and through that you shall be tested with some of the toughest challenges you will find and one of the greatest feelings of reward that follow it. Overall its a great game and for the $10(limited time) it costs its definitely worth a buy. PICK IT UP AND SUPPORT INDIE GAMING DAMMIT!!!

btw there is a movie being released next year that will feature Team Meat and various Indie Developers called (www.indiegamethemovie.com) Indie Game the Movie. You can help fund the movie by either donating or pre-ordering the DVD.
